Nokta is either the goddess of violent chaos, or the goddess of freedom, depending on who you ask. Either one might serve as some explanation for her behavior. When she was placed in the night sky, she tore holes in it because “they looked pretty.” When she sees particularly interesting mortals, she will visit them in their dreams and engage with them in largely pointless conversation. She sometimes casts her avatar on the earth at night, which takes the form of a completely white, dancing woman, who disappears the moment she is no longer in the moonlight. Nokta ignores mortals who “aren’t doing anything interesting” but seems to become obsessed by those that do, and travelers worship her, believing that she is watching them and ensuring that their fates end well. They are accurate in their assessment of her; Nokta has a history of becoming violently angry when her favorite mortals die, and blocking Solaris’ light as a result. In these foul moods, she has a history of spawning monsters, sometimes entire races of them, and lycanthropes, dire animals, and countless magical beasts can all be traced back to her. This is why many who do not follow her consider her an evil goddess, but this is far from the case.
Nokta has a contentious friendship with Vodama, and the two regularly switch between violent love and violent hatred. She is also a rival and occasional enemy of Solaris. But followers of Nokta believe that the moon and the sun were lovers, and that she chose to leave him, an assertion that the Church of Solaris considers heresy.
