A chain of islands of the South-Eastern tip of Malia where magic is very, very strong. They are tiny, but the culture of their inhabitants is distinct and alien enough that it is worth mentioning. Largely human, though arguably with varying degrees of Elf blood, the Mistlanders interact with and speak to Fey regularly. In addition, magic is an unremarkable aspect of their lives, as they are constantly surrounded by it and it often runs through their blood. To us, this may seem amazing, but other than that, they actually live quite unremarkable lives. They usually don’t war, and seem to have no interest in expanding, but they do travel throughout the world, generally trying to gather stories as they do. For a Mistlander, the highest calling is to be a “Storyteller”, what we would think of as a Bard.
The islands’ isolation make this difficult. Directly to the North of them is the Elven forest, which does not welcome outsiders, and the Illumian Empire, which would sooner enslave all outsiders. Still, Mistlanders tend to travel around, drink, and sleep with women throughout Malia…they rarely do anything else.
